A Journey to Success: From Over 500 Applications to a Business Analyst Role
It’s often said that the road to success is not an easy one, but for our student, it’s been a journey of learning, resilience, and eventual triumph.
This anonymous student came to us at a time when his job search had been filled with frustration. He had submitted over 500 applications, many of which didn’t lead anywhere. Yet, through our sessions, he found the confidence and tools to turn his situation around.
In just a few weeks after completing our training, he secured a Business Analyst (BA) role, proving that with the right guidance, hard work, and belief in oneself, anything is possible.
Struggling Through the Job Search
Before discovering Heels and Tech, our student was no stranger to rejection. He had tirelessly applied for jobs, submitting more than 500 applications over the course of several months. In fact, in one month alone, he sent over 90 applications. Despite his relentless efforts, success seemed out of reach. It was a discouraging time, and with no success in sight, it felt like a constant uphill battle.
But then came the turning point. Feeling overwhelmed and unsure of his next move, he decided to give Heels and Tech a shot. What began as a leap of faith would soon change everything.
“Before joining Heels and Tech, I submitted more than 500 applications,” he shares. “I did over 90 applications in April.” Yet, despite the countless applications and interviews, something was still missing. It wasn’t just about applying; it was about having the right skills, mindset, and confidence.
Gaining Confidence Through the Process
When he joined Heels and Tech, he wasn’t just gaining knowledge; he was building confidence. Our training gave him the confidence to reframe his approach to the job market. He reflects on how much the sessions impacted his ability to succeed: “I really appreciate the sessions we had as it gave me the confidence to apply and ace the interview.” What he learned in the sessions quickly became the foundation for his success.
Our training is designed not only to teach specific skills but also to instill confidence. This is something our student saw firsthand. The knowledge we shared about stakeholders, facilitation, conflict management, business case documentation, and effective communication became key to his success.
“Most of what you taught us came out in the interview,” he says, emphasizing how the practical examples we used during classes prepared him for the real world. From stakeholder management to understanding business cases, the lessons were directly applicable to the interview questions he faced.
What stood out most for him was how interactive our sessions were. He felt deeply engaged in the process, which helped him retain and apply the knowledge he gained. “Good thing that we engaged really well during the classes as it helped a lot in remembering the scenarios and being able to answer with practical examples,” he notes. This hands-on learning approach turned out to be exactly what he needed to succeed.
Securing the Role with Heels and Tech’s Guidance
Just two weeks after completing our training, our student found himself in an interview for a Business Analyst position. This time, things were different. Armed with the skills he had learned and the confidence he had built, he approached the interview with a fresh perspective. The results were immediate.
“I applied for the job two weeks after we finished the Heels and Tech training and see how Almighty GOD works,” he says.
In the interview, he used the knowledge gained through our training to showcase his abilities and potential. He was able to discuss stakeholders, business case documentation, and the importance of communication, which impressed the interviewers. Additionally, he had done his research on the company, something we always emphasize in our training.
“I did enough research on the company when I did the first interview,” he shares.
But the biggest takeaway from his story? The importance of tailoring his experience to the role he was applying for.
“One last expo: I went and copied the LinkedIn of the Heels and Tech CEO and changed my experience towards BA. I removed all my big roles of my past experience.” This simple but powerful strategy helped him align his profile with the role he wanted and ultimately secured the job.
A Grateful Reflection
Looking back on the journey, our student is full of gratitude. What started as a frustrating and uncertain job search turned into a success story thanks to Heels and Tech. “Heels and Tech, a big thank you,” he says, reflecting on how we played a crucial part in his career breakthrough.
His story is a testament to the power of persistence, the right training, and a bit of faith. He came to us with a goal to transition into a new career and, with our guidance, he achieved it. His success wasn’t just about the skills he gained but also about the confidence he now has to pursue and succeed in the tech field.
