Four Minute Medicine is a medical education technology startup that is dedicated to providing high-quality, concise, and clinically relevant content to junior doctors and medical students. Our platform supports blended and in-the-flow-of-work learning through 1-page clinical summaries, short videos, and courses, all designed to cultivate medical mastery one minute at a time.
We are expanding and developing new features and products, and we’re seeking a dynamic UI/UX Designer and Researcher to join our team. Role overview
As a UI/UX Designer and Researcher, you’ll be the visionary behind crafting exceptional user experiences that captivate our audience and drive our business forward. Your keen eye for aesthetic design, coupled with your ability to conduct in-depth user research, will be instrumental in creating visually stunning, intuitive interfaces that seamlessly integrate with our platform’s functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design creation: Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for web and mobile platforms that align with our user needs and business goals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, founders, and stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation of your designs and a seamless user experience.
- Visual identity: Help define the visual identity of the product, ensuring that designs are not only functional but also aesthetically appealing.
- Design quality assurance: Ensure design consistency and quality throughout the development process by collaborating closely with engineers.
- Design system: Develop and maintain a scalable design system that ensures consistency across the platform.
- User research: Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights, validate design decisions, and continuously improve the user experience.
- User feedback: Gather and implement feedback from stakeholders, users, and the team to iterate and enhance the platform’s UI/UX.
Qualifications
- Exceptional design: A proven ability to craft visually stunning, engaging designs that adhere to UI/UX best practices.
- Experience: 2+ years of UI/UX design experience, ideally in a startup or early-stage environment. A great portfolio with at least 1 year of experience may also suffice.
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your design work and capabilities. (Warning: Candidates who apply without submitting a portfolio risk being overlooked)
- Design tools: Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
- User-centric: A Deep understanding of user-centred design principles with hands-on experience in user research and usability testing.
- Collaboration: Comfortable working in cross-functional teams with engineers and stakeholders.
- Problem-solver: Skilled in tackling complex design challenges and translating them into intuitive, elegant solutions.
- Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment that values quick iteration and continuous improvement.
Bonus skills
- Frontend development: Proficiency in frontend development, especially with Next.js, React.js, and TypeScript.
- Startup experience: Experience working in early-stage startups and embracing the flexibility and dynamic nature of such environments.
