As a new immigrant in Canada within the Product Management space, I reached a point in my career where I felt uncertain about my next steps at one of Canada’s top telecommunication companies. Despite my hard work and expertise, I wasn’t getting the visibility and recognition I knew I had earned. I wanted to change that, to let my work speak for itself and position me for the opportunities I deserved.

I decided to seek guidance and reached out to Bisola at Heels and Tech. While what I needed wasn’t a listed service on the Heels and Tech platform at the time, I trusted that speaking with people who can easily understand my journey would be valuable. They didn’t turn me away. Instead, she listened, and together with the Heels and Tech team, we had a powerful brainstorming session to craft a strategy that would amplify my impact and position me for the recognition I deserved.

I implemented that strategy with intention and consistency, sharing my progress along the way. Exactly a year later, I was nominated for a prestigious award in my organization, an honor reserved for top performers with high visibility. That nomination alone was a milestone, but a month later, I was announced as the winner of the Leadership Excellence Award.

That moment was more than just an award, it was validation of my expertise, leadership, and the power of strategic positioning. I learned that having strong technical skills alone isn’t enough to climb the ladder you must be intentional about visibility, influence, and positioning yourself as a leader. Since then, I’ve applied the same strategy to other aspects of my work, including the impactful initiatives I’ve founded. Now, global recognition, top opportunities, and promotions have become the new norm. I am honored to be recognized monthly across the world for the meaningful work I do.
