About the Role
You’ll work directly with Carbon’s Co-Founder to build rapid prototypes for new embedded
finance verticals. This is a founder strike team role—you’ll ship working demos in days, not
months.
Your job: Take product concepts and partner requirements, then build functional prototypes
using Carbon’s lending APIs, virtual accounts, and payout infrastructure. You’ll create microsites,
loan calculators, agent onboarding flows, and embedded checkout experiences—all under
feature flags so we can test without disrupting core operations.
You’re not building production code. You’re building decision-making tools—prototypes good
enough for the Carbon product team to assess feasibility, estimate timelines, and use as hando
specs. You’ll need strong product intuition to understand what makes fintech flows work and the
technical chops to execute fast.
What You’ll Do (First 90 Days):
Month 1: Study embedded finance product patterns (loan calculators, agent onboarding, virtual
accounts, payout flows). Build 2-3 concept prototypes to demonstrate speed and judgment.
Document user flows and technical requirements in Figjam/Notion.
Month 2: Build 3 partner-driven prototypes: microsites, mock APIs, oer calculators, thin integrations to Carbon’s KYC/decisioning/payout systems (feature-flagged). Host live on Vercel/Netlify
for internal testing.
Month 3: Hando 1-2 prototypes to Carbon’s product team with full documentation (user flows,
API specs, edge cases, technical implementation notes, recommended production architecture).
What Good Looks Like:
â–ª 5+ prototype concepts explored with documented flows and logic
â–ª 3+ working demos live and usable for internal testing and partner presentations
â–ª 1-2 prototypes greenlit for production hando with clear technical specifications
Who You Are
â–ª 2-4 years experience in product design, frontend development, or growth/product ops
▪ Strong product intuition—you understand what makes fintech products work and can map user
flows intuitively
â–ª Comfortable building quick-and-dirty demos using AI tools (Lovable, v0, Cursor, Bolt, Replit)
â–ª Basic understanding of APIs, webhooks, and how fintech infrastructure works (KYC, decisioning,
payouts)
â–ª Bias toward shipping over polish—you’d rather show a rough demo than wait for pixel-perfect
â–ª AI-native: You use Cursor for code, ChatGPT for specs, Figjam for flows
▪ Comfortable learning by exploring—you research similar products to understand patterns without needing explicit requirements
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience with no-code/low-code tools (Retool, Bubble, Webflow, Airtable)
Prior fintech product experience (payments, lending, wallets)
Can write basic backend logic (Node.js, Python) or integrate with REST APIs
Experience building prototypes for 0 1 products or MVP testing
Logistics
Location: Lagos/Hybrid
Commitment: Full-time contractor (~40 hrs/week)
Compensation: 800,000/month + AI tool subscriptions (Cursor, ChatPRD, Perplexity, etc.)
Upside: Discretionary performance awards for greenlit prototypes + first right of consideration for
full-time role if vertical scales.
