She Code Africa is a pan-African nonprofit on a mission to bridge the gender gap in tech, by equipping African girls and women with access to digital skills in technology, and fostering their economic independence.
Since Inception in 2016, they have empowered over 62,000 African girls and women with tech skills, resources & employment opportunities in the industry and with over 30,000 members, they identify as the largest women in tech organisation in Africa with members from across 20+ African countries. They are building a future where women and girls are equitably represented in Africa’s digital economy. Role Summary
They are expanding their impact, and strong operations are key to their success. As Operations Lead, you will drive the day-to-day execution and optimization of She Code Africa’s internal operations — from people management processes and policy implementation to compliance, vendor coordination, and organizational administration.
This role sits at the heart of SCA’s infrastructure, supporting the smooth delivery of programs, team coordination, and operational excellence across the organization. You’ll help build a nimble, impact-oriented nonprofit operation that scales with intention.
This is a people-and-process-centered role ideal for someone who thrives on structure, precision, and building systems that support sustainable impact in a remote-first nonprofit environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily internal operations including facilities coordination (remote + physical), logistics, documentation, and process workflows.
- Develop and improve internal operational processes to support efficiency, clarity, and cross-team coordination.
- Lead procurement processes and ensure vendor/supplier management complies with internal and donor guidelines.
- Develop and enforce administrative policies and operational guidelines in line with nonprofit best practices.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across SCA’s operations, including data protection, financial operations, contracts, and registrations.
- Coordinate periodic internal audits and organizational risk assessments as needed.
- Manage documentation systems, information governance, and data accuracy across tools and platforms.
- Maintain and oversee use of core operational systems including Trello, Google Workspace.
- Support operations for major organizational events, retreats, or physical activations.
- Serve as a support function for all departments by ensuring operational needs are met, including logistics, documentation, and systems training.
- Collaborate closely with the People & Culture sub-team to implement onboarding, offboarding, and internal coordination processes.
- Assist with preparation and documentation for monthly leadership meetings and board-related operations.
- Coordinate with the Finance team to manage vendor payments, petty cash, and operational expense tracking.
- Monitor department budgets, expense reports, and ensure operational spend aligns with grant compliance when applicable.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 4–6 years of experience in nonprofit operations, project administration, or general management roles (nonprofit experience is preferred).
- Proven track record in designing, implementing, or improving systems and workflows in a remote or distributed work setting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Comfortable using digital tools for operations (Google Workspace, Notion, Trello, Airtable, etc.).
- High level of integrity, discretion, and accountability.
- Familiarity with nonprofit legal and compliance frameworks in Nigeria and across Africa is a plus.
- Passion for She Code Africa’s mission and commitment to gender equity in STEM.
- A team player with a proactive, service-oriented mindset.
- Comfort working in fast-paced, agile nonprofit environments with distributed teams
