Project Overview

The Data to Policy Project empowers governments to use data for more informed and effective policy-making. As data volumes increase, many governments face challenges in managing and using this resource to shape inclusive and sustainable policies. This project is designed to foster collaboration and data governance that places people at the center of decision-making.

Key components of the project include the Data to Policy Navigator, which helps policymakers understand data-driven decision-making, and the Data to Policy Network, which facilitates peer-to-peer learning among government leaders.

The Communications Analyst will play a critical role in supporting communication strategies for this project.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Analyst for Data will be tasked with:

  • Developing and refining communications strategies related to data governance and policy-making, focusing on objectives, target audiences, and channels.
  • Creating and coordinating the publication of thought leadership pieces, including blogs, press releases, and articles on data-informed policymaking.
  • Writing and editing content for knowledge assets like policy briefs, use cases, newsletters, and presentations.
  • Supporting the organization of online and offline events for the Data to Policy Network, including liaising with stakeholders, developing assets, and providing strategic feedback.
  • Maintaining information management tools and participating in regular meetings to ensure alignment across communications efforts.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Communications, Media, International Relations, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree with additional experience may also be considered.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years (Master’s) or 4 years (Bachelor’s) of experience in communications.
    • Proven track record in project management and strategy development.
    • Experience writing thought pieces, blogs, press releases, or newsletters.
  • Desired Skills:
    • Editorial and multimedia production experience.
    • Familiarity with data or digital innovation.
    • Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders and organizations like the UN.
